Teal Tuesday: 3D Nail Art

This week's challenge mani didn't go quit as planned.  I wanted to do a french tip now that my nails have grown out.  I already did a teal french design, you can see it HERE.  So I wanted to change it up a bit.  I decided that teal and purple go good together, so why not a purple french tip with teal dots?  Here is why, it just doesn't look good :(  I should have gone with my gut and done a teal french tip.  This what I like to call a Monet.  It looks good from far away, but not up close.  And I am sad the the purple bled a little when I was putting on my top coat.  I love the stars though!
Here is my Monet LOL

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Tips:  Kleancolor Metallic Purple
Dots:  Kleancolor Metallic Aqua
Silver Accent Line:  Orly Dazzle (applied with a small brush)
Star Accents:  Purchased from Sally Beauty Supply
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Like I said before, I don't love how this one turned out, but maybe it will grow on me.  As of right now, I like to look at it from a far

Lazy Days of Summer: Pool Party

Challenge #6 is Pool Party for the Lazy Days of Summer Challenge.  I have to tell you, when I go to a pool party, I mostly sit in a chair and look at all the pretty bathing suits.  My inspiration for this mani is a bathing suit.  If I could go out right now and pick out an awesome bikini, I think I would pick a nice blue with some white accents on it.  So here is my bikini mani for a pool party :)

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  Orly Royal Navy
White Striping Tape
Clear Rhinestones
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

I have loved wearing this mani.  I have had it on for a few days and no chipping!  Just a little tip wear.

Until next time <3

Polish Magnets

I haven been wanting to make some polish jewelry and magnets for a while now.  I bought some supplies a few months ago and then they just sat in my room :(  When I found out that my sister was getting her condo, I decided a cute home made gift was in order.  So I got out my supplies and some polish to match her decor.  She was using peacocks for inspiration.  So Purples and Teals was the way to go.  There are a few tutorials online with instructions on how to make these.  They are sooooo simple and fun.  You are basically going to paint the glass beads in the reverse of how you would paint your nails.  Start with top coat, then glitter, if you are using, then base color.  You can add in some nail art designs, stamping, special effects polishes etc.  The sky is the limit really.  I took some advice and painted the backs black and added a coat of Seche Vite.  This way they are all the same on the back and very uniform.
Since this was my first go at it, I decided to go simple.  I let my beads dry overnight, then hot glued on the magnets and voila!  Cute personalized magnets for any occasion :)
I brought these to my sister and at first she couldn't figure out how I made them.  When her husband came home, he saw them on the fridge and assumed that she had bought them.  My sister informed him that I made them and he was a little surprised and loved them as much as she did!
Here is what hers look like

Glass Beads purchased from the Dollar Tree
Button Magnets purchased from Michaels
Mini Glue Gun purchased from Michaels

Enjoy your Saturday!!

Zoya: Chloe

Good Morning!! I have a short post for you today.  I wanted to share Zoya Chloe.  I am in LOOOOOVE with flakies.  Yeah, I have a problem.  If I see a flakie, I have to have it.  I just found out yesterday that Icing has some flakie polishes.  So of course I will be on the look out for those.
Any who, back to the flakie of the day.  I layered Chloe over Wet N Wild's Ebony Hates Chris.  It really brings out all the colors.  I also prefer my flakie's matte.  You can see so much color variations.
Here is my mani

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  WnW Ebony Hates Chris
Flakie:  Zoya Chloe
Top Coat:  Kleancolor Madley Matte

How do you like your flakie polishes?

Teal Tuesday: Half Moon

Happy Tuesday!!  This weeks Tealicure is a half moon.  Yet ANOTHER technique I haven't tried.  Go figure.  This group keeps me trying new things all the time.  I have seen the half moon done and it seems very easy.  I just didn't love the look.  Hence why I hadn't tried it.  Well, it was now time.  I wanted to do something I could wear every day and not have it be too "out there".  I have seen some crazy nails!!  I also wanted to add a little bling, so if course, got out some glitter.  The technique is easy.  All you need are some page reinforcements.  You can get them at the dollar store.  Just place them near the cuticle where you want the curve to be and paint.  I suggest removing each sticker as you paint each finger.  You will get a more crisp line.  If you wait too long, the nail polish will  start to dry on the sticker and when removed, you will get some polish pulling and end up with a jagged line.  I hope that made sense.
To add the glitter, I just used a large dotting tool.
Here is my half moon mani

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Tip Color:  A England Saint George (1 coat)
Glitter:  Pure Ice Beware
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Can I just say that I am loving this mani!  I have been wanting to try this A England for a while and I think I made a good choice using it for the mani.

Half Moon Mani's, are they for you?

Lazy Days of Summer: Inspired by your favorite towel

This next challenge is a cute one.  Inspired by your favorite towel.....I have to say, I don't have any favorite or fancy towels.  We just have beige and white towels here.  A couple kids towels but they are by no means a favorite.  I do however have a cute beach towel that is pink and white stripes.  I could call this my favorite towel.  It certainly isn't as boring as beige and white!  Here is my interpretation of said towel

Base Color: Sinful Colors 24/7
Shimmer:  Sally Hansen HD LCD
Stripes:  L.A. Colors in Black and White
Glitter:  L.A. Colors Silver Striper
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

I added the black and glitter for a little pop.  I really like this technique, I used it HERE when I was just getting started.  I didn't look up any striping mani's so I have no idea if this has been done.  But, I will continue to do this, I love the way it tuns out :)

Lazy Days of Summer: Flip Flops

Challenge #4 for Lazy Days of Summer is Flip Flops.  I thought for a sec and decided I wasn't in the mood for bright or neon nails.  Besides, when I think of flip flops, I think of my black sandals with some awesome red toes.  One of the favorite pedi polishes is China Glaze Ruby Pumps.  I WILL be getting a back up of this color.  I hope they never discontinue this one.
Here is my interpretation of a flip flop mani, it's very subtle and I am in LOVE with this red!!

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  China Glaze Ruby Pumps
Stamping Plate:  Bundle Monster BM309
Stamping Polish:  Konad Special Black
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Teal Tuesday: Glitter Bomb

Happy Tuesday!  This weeks theme is Glitter Bomb over in Teal Tuesday.  I love me some glitter, but I have never successfully done a glitter bomb.  I am just not skilled enough to layer glitters and have it look nice.  So I went a different route.  I picked out my most sparkly teal glitter and put it over a teal base.  I don't know if this is considered a glitter bomb, but it sure is sparkly!!

 Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  Color Club Metamorphosis
Glitter:  Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

This is so much more sparkly in person.  But you have heard that before, right?  I wish the camera could capture all the tiny holo glitters.
I have been looking at my nails all day!!

Lazy Days of Summer: Summer Ombre

I have another LDoS challenge mani for you.  Ombre's are so much fun.  They are a little work if you are like me and don't have a large stash of polishes with different shades of the same color.  I used just one polish for this mani.  You can see my other Ombre HERE which has a link to the tutorial I used.  However, I had to go a different route with this color.  Turns out you can't add black to an orange neon.  Ask me how I know!  So, I started on my thumb with the color at full strength and then added white as I went to each nail.  I like how it turned out.  The color is a little out of my comfort zone but when it isn't so "in your face" it's a nice touch of summer.  What do you think?

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  Color Club Lava Lamp
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

I have such a hard time photographing my right hand.  I can never get my fingers to line up how I want.  This is the best I could do, sorry.  I will keep practicing and hopefully it won't look so awkward.

Thanks for stopping in to see my nails!!
