OPI: I Theodora You Dotticure

Easter is this weekend people!  I have big plans with the family so I am popping in to share my cute Easter inspired dotticure.  I have been wanting to do one for a while, but when I am in a slump, it never enters my head.  I need to start keeping a list of techniques I wanna try.  Anywho, I also picked up OPI I Theodora You  (from the Oz the Great and Powerful Collection) when I went to Ulta this week.  It's a cute light pink jelly.  I will def have to use this one for a jelly sammie.  I did 2 coats and of course you can still see some of my nail underneath, but that is kind of to be expected.  I grabbed China Glaze For Audrey and Happy Go Lucky for my dots.  Kind of the only options I had, I don't have a lot of pastels.  So I gotta work with what I got ;)  Here is how it turned out.  Pretty good I think.  I have seen better, but for a first try, I am happy with it.

OPI I Theodora You Dotticure
Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  OPI I Theodora You (2 coats)
Dots:  China Glaze For Audrey and Happy Go Lucky
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Easter plans this Sunday?  Got a cute mani in mind?  Share :)  Have a great weekend all!

Nerdlacquer: Event Horizon

If you have been a polish lover or in a polish group of some sort, then you have probably heard about Nerdlacquer.  She has some awesome creations and her polishes are very sought after.  A while ago, she disappeared, no one knew what happened and if/when she would come back.  You can go check out her Google+ page for all the details, as she has explained her situation in detail.  When I heard she was back, I made sure to pay attention so I could grab a couple Nerds when she re-stocked, AND I DID!  I knew to get in and get out as quickly as possible, as her stuff sells out in literally a couple minutes.  I was nervous the whole time waiting for a message to tell me that my items were no longer in my cart.  But when I was finished, I got my confirmation e mail and that was that :)  My 2 Nerds were mine!
Today I wanna share Event Horizon, I have had my eye on this one ever since I heard about Nerdlacquer.  It is described as a blackened teal with blue, aqua, green, silver and holographic glitters and boy is it pretty!  It's pretty packed and 2 coats was def enough for full coverage.  I put it on Friday afternoon, and today, Tuesday, no chipping with minor tip wear :)  I took quit a few pictures and I am gonna share a few of them.  Get ready!!

Sorry for the pic spam, but I just couldn't decide which pic I liked the best.  If you wanna get a hold of some Nerds, you should follow her on Google+ HERE, as that is where she posts updates and re-stock info.  You can also check out her store HERE, she has all her polishes listed so you can see pics.  Obviously, you won't be able to actually buy until her next re stock.  But at least this way you can make your list and go from there :)

So I have to know, do you have any Nerds?  Have a wishlist?  Which are you hoping to get in the next re stock?

Pretty & Polished: Rat-a-tat

Happy Halloween!  Pretty much every nail blog is show casing a cool Halloween mani.  I just wasn't really into Halloween this year so I didn't do one.  I have been sporting fun black and glittery nails which is fun for me.  My nails are still pretty short so I like the dark vampy look.  Which is actually great for Halloween :)
Today I wanna share with you a polish from the Indy brand Pretty & Polished.  Chelsea makes some great polishes and I am fortunate to own a few.
Today I have Rat-a-tat.  I love this glitter polish.  It's a clear base packed with teal and black hex glitters, bar glitters and micro glitters.  You might know that I am a huge fan of glitter polish, this one does not disappoint.  I did 2 layers over a black base.

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris (1 layer)
Glitter:  Pretty & Polished Rat-a-tat
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

What do you think of Indy brands?  Have any, want any?

Teal Tuesday: Mani Swap

This weeks Teal Tuesday is an awesome one.  I was very excited to be a part of this week's challenge.  Our creator came up with the idea of recreating a mani from other gals and incorporating teal in the design.  Sign me up!!!  The best part?  We had to keep it a secret.  I love surprises!
I was matched up with Samantha from Polished Art  She has some great designs on her blog.  It was hard to choose one.  Well, I actually did two.  I failed at the first one :(  But with lots of ideas on her blog, it was easy to pick another design.

Here is a picture of her design

Click HERE to see the original post
I am a huge fan of glitter and I just happened to have some cute stars that I got at Sally's a little while ago.

Here is my re-creation

Base Coat:  Elmer's Glue
Glitter:  China Glaze Atlantis (2 coats, no underwear)
Black Stars from Sally Beauty

I did this mani and this morning and I am loving it!!  Thanks Sam for the great design.

Happy Tuesday y'all!!

Teal Tuesday: Something Sweet

It's that time of the week again!

This week's theme is a fun one and gave me the excuse to do the cupcake mani again :)  You can see my first attempt HERE I love this design and I will prob do it any chance I get LOL

Here is my Teal Cupcake Mani

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  China Glaze For Audrey (1 coat)
Glitter Stripes:  L.A. Colors Glitter Striper, no name (3 coats)
Frosting:  Sinful Colors Snow Me White
Sprinkles:  China Glaze For Audrey (dotting tool)
Heart Toppers:  Sinful Colors Let's Talk (applied with a dotting tool)
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

I need more practice on my little hearts.  They were the worst part.  I hate that they are not all centered, but that is my OCD.  I am enjoying my cute teal cupcakes!

Teal Tuesday: Geometric

This weeks theme for Teal Tuesday is Geometric.  I knew which base I wanted to use.  I had gotten China Glaze Atlantis from Copious, for just a penny, and I had to give it a try.  I used the glue as my base.  You can get more info on that HERE  Then applied my base coat and 2 layers of Atlantis.  No underwear.  This covered very well and was opaque in 2 coats :)  Finding the geometric shape I wanted to stamp with was going to be a bit harder.  A few gals have already stamped some awesome designs and I have already used some other designs here on my blog.  I went with the design on the new Bundle Monster set BM320.  I LOVE the Atlantis with a design stamped over it.

Base:  Elmer's Glue
Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Glitter:  China Glaze Atlantis
Stamping Plate:  Bundle Monster BM320
Stamping Polish:  Konad Special Black
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

You are probably wondering why there is no polish on my index finger.  If you read my previous post, then you know how easy glitter comes off when you use glue as a base.  When I rolled on my image, I used a little too much pressure and it just came off, in one sheet LOL  So, if you use the glue method and stamp, be careful.  You don't want to peel off all your polish before you get the stamping done.

I put on Atlantis yesterday afternoon, so far it has held up to normal wear and tear.  I am going to keep this on for a while and see how long it will last.  I will keep you updated :)

Teal Tuesday: Ovarian Cancer Awareness

It's been a while since I was able to participate in a Teal Tuesday mani.  But this week I decided that I HAD to participate for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.  This didn't come out exactly how I had imagined it, but I still like it.  There are a few layers that went into this design.  All in all, I am pretty happy with it.  I may do a few more mani's this month.  Keep a look out :)

Base Color:  China Glaze For Audrey
Glitter:  China Glaze Fairy Dust
Stamping Plates:  Konad M60 & Bundle Monster BM321
Stamping Polishes:  Konad Special Black and Special White
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Will you be doing a special awareness mani this month?

Guest Blogger Friday: WalkInMyEyeShadow

It's Guest Blogger Friday over here.  Today Natalie is joining us from WalkInMyEyeShadow.  She is a newer blogger and has some great stuff to show you.  Go check her out!!

*********************************************************************************

G'day all!

My name is Natalie Elise and I am a beauty blogger from Australia. Most of my time is spent either researching makeup and nails or blogging on my website, WalkInMyEyeShadow. When I was asked to do a guest post for Mandy's Polish I was really excited so hopefully you enjoy my mani and please check out my blog.

For my guest post I wanted to create a manicure inspired by peacock colours. My favorite colours are teal and purple and I wanted to bring those into a manicure, and this is what I came up with.

Here are the supplies I used for this manicure.

As a base colour I used China Glaze "Shower Together". I then applied stripes of colour across the background using various peacock inspired shade from LA Colours Art Deco. The colours I used were Magenta, Vibrant, Dark Blue and Forest Green.

I then added a little bit of sparkle by using the glitter stripers in Blue Glitter, Teal Glitter and a purple glitter striper that I don't know the name of. This is how it turned out

I then stamped a design from Mash image plate 49 with China Glaze "Metallic Muse", and this is how it turned out

Hopefully you have enjoyed my guest post here on Mandy's Polish, I would like to thank Amanda for giving me the opportunity to become known by a wider audience and look forward to hearing any feedback you have for me. Please check out my blog for more looks and reviews.

Teal Tuesday: Half Moon

Happy Tuesday!!  This weeks Tealicure is a half moon.  Yet ANOTHER technique I haven't tried.  Go figure.  This group keeps me trying new things all the time.  I have seen the half moon done and it seems very easy.  I just didn't love the look.  Hence why I hadn't tried it.  Well, it was now time.  I wanted to do something I could wear every day and not have it be too "out there".  I have seen some crazy nails!!  I also wanted to add a little bling, so if course, got out some glitter.  The technique is easy.  All you need are some page reinforcements.  You can get them at the dollar store.  Just place them near the cuticle where you want the curve to be and paint.  I suggest removing each sticker as you paint each finger.  You will get a more crisp line.  If you wait too long, the nail polish will  start to dry on the sticker and when removed, you will get some polish pulling and end up with a jagged line.  I hope that made sense.
To add the glitter, I just used a large dotting tool.
Here is my half moon mani

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Tip Color:  A England Saint George (1 coat)
Glitter:  Pure Ice Beware
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Can I just say that I am loving this mani!  I have been wanting to try this A England for a while and I think I made a good choice using it for the mani.

Half Moon Mani's, are they for you?

Teal Tuesday: Glitter Bomb

Happy Tuesday!  This weeks theme is Glitter Bomb over in Teal Tuesday.  I love me some glitter, but I have never successfully done a glitter bomb.  I am just not skilled enough to layer glitters and have it look nice.  So I went a different route.  I picked out my most sparkly teal glitter and put it over a teal base.  I don't know if this is considered a glitter bomb, but it sure is sparkly!!

 Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  Color Club Metamorphosis
Glitter:  Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

This is so much more sparkly in person.  But you have heard that before, right?  I wish the camera could capture all the tiny holo glitters.
I have been looking at my nails all day!!

Teal Tuesday: Dots

Tuesday is upon us again :)  This weeks theme for Teal Tuesday is Dots.  I have been wanting to try design that I saw on Pinterest.  It didn't go exactly as planned, but I think it still came out cute.  I finally got to use a color shifting top coat that I had purchased from a friend who has her own Indie Line, you can check her out HERE  This particular one is called Electric Eel, it looked more turquoise in the bottle.  After I layered it over black, it was more green.  That was ok though, it looks really pretty out in the sun :)  Since the top coat was more green than I thought, I had to use some teal dots, so I went with my Kleancolor Metallics, Aqua, Fuschia and Yellow.  Grabbed my dotting tools and got to dotting LOL
What do you think?
Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris
Effects Top Coat:  Sassy Lacquer Electric Eel
Dots:  Kleancolor Metallic Aqua, Fuschia and Yellow
Top Coat:  Rejuvacote

I had fun wearing this mani for a few days.  Even got a few compliments :)

Teal Tuesday: Feathers

Afternoon lovelies!  When I logged in today, I saw that I now have 160 followers, YAY!!  I am so excited to have you all with me :)
This weeks Teal Challenge is feathers.  I have to admit, I was not in the mood to do my nails these last few days.  I had on a gorgeous glitter that was wearing very well.  I just didn't want to go through all the effort to remove it.  I am just one tired mama!  But, I decided it was time to change my mani.  I had an idea all planned out.  A pretty teal holo and some gold stamping.  Complete FAIL!  The holo didn't want to dry :(  Then the furniture guy showed up and I had to unlock the gate, we have a pad lock.  Two nails ruined right there.  So I decided to start over and go simpler.  I did just one coat of CG Adore and stamped with a feather image using Konad Special Black.  It's simple, but cute.  I like it :)  You?

Base Coat:  Rejuvacote
Base Color:  China Glaze Adore (1 coat)
Stamping Plate:  Bundle Monster BM214
Stamping Polish:  Konad Special Black
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

So I started using a new treatment called Rejuvacote.  So far I love it.  You apply as your base coat and add a top coat each day.  It's nice and thick and shiny.  So I thought I would try to use it as a top coat over stamping.  No go :(  You can see that the image on my pinky is smeared.  I will be sticking with my Seche Vite for stamping mani's.  But, tomorrow, I will be adding my Rejuvacote on top :)

Happy Tuesday!!!

Teal Tuesday: Free Day

Happy Tuesday!!  Today's challenge was a free day.  YAY!!  I have been wanting to try this jelly sandwich for a while now and I finally have an excuse to do it.  I have been looking at my Sinful Colors Cinderella and Nail Junkie thinking this will make a great jelly sandwich.  Well, it makes a good one.  The glass flecks in Cinderella kind of take over.  But I wouldn't say this one is a fail.  I like the way it turned out.  Just not your typical jelly sandwich.  I did one coat of Cinderella, one coat of Nail Junkie, then one coat of Cinderella, two coats of Nail Junkie and topped with one coat of Cinderella.  Did you get all that?  What are your thoughts?

Base Coat:  Seche REBUILD
Jelly Colors:  Sinful Colors Cinderella and Nail Junkie
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Sooo having a mommy moment right....is this a jelly sandwich or a glitter sandwich?  Help a girl out  :)

Teal Tuesday: Stars

I have another Tealicure for you today.  This weeks theme is stars.  I was excited this one won, but then I realized, I had no clue what I was going to do.  There was no way I was going to freehand some stars and I wasn't in the mood to try out some stickers.  So of course, I went to my binder with all my plates and started looking. I was sure I had a ton of star images.  I don't :(  This is actually my 2nd attempt.  I liked my first attempt, which was french tips, but I have plans for the day and wanted to show off this polish.  I LOVE IT!  So I started over and did a full mani with a cute star stamp :)

Base Coat:  Seche REBUILD
Base Color:  Zoya Charla
Stamping Plate:  Bundle Monster BM21
Stamping Polish:  Konad Special White
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Teal Tuesday: Abstract

This weeks challenge is Abstract.  After asking a few questions, most techniques such as sponging, splatter, tape and gradients fall in the abstract category.  Honestly I wasn't in the mood to go through all that.  I just wanted something simple.  Then I remembered there was an image from my plates that I hadn't used yet.  Actually, there were 2 that I felt were abstract.  Time for a stamping mani!!  Here is what it looks like

Base Coat:  Seche REBUILD
Base Color:  Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris
Stamping Color:  Kleancolor Metallic Aqua
Stamping Plate:  Bundle Monster BM 203
Stamping Plate (ring finger):  Red Angel RA 108
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

I love how this turned out, will definitely be using these designs again.

Happy Tuesday!!!

Teal Tuesday: Marble

This weeks theme is Marble, any type.  I am such a procrastinator, I waited until last night to even attempt this one.  I knew I didn't have time to do a water marble so I thought I would do it with my dotting tool.  FAIL!  It didn't come out anything like I had hoped.  So I tried again, FAIL!  Hahaha, see a pattern here?  Then I decided I would do different patterns of black and white on my nails then use a turquoise glitter to marble in, FAIL!  So I decided to sponge on my glitters.  I ended up using Finger Paints Art you Wondering? and Romanticism Ruby.  You can see some of the white by mt cuticle :(  But I surely wasn't going another round with this mani.  This is what I ended up with

I am really bummed with how the polish looks around my cuticles, but what can I say?  If I had this to do over again, I would just use an all  black base.

Base Coat:  Seche REBUILD
Base colors:  Sinful Colors Snow Me White / Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris
Glitters:  Finger Paints Art you Wondering? / Romanticism Ruby
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Teal Tuesday: Accent Nail

Happy Teal Tuesday!  This week's challenge is Accent Nail.  What does that mean?  It means we can do what ever we want as along as there is teal involved, on our accent nail.  I don't think every one uses the same nail as their accent nail.  I have seen all types of mani's.  I prefer to use my ring finger.  Here is what I have for you today, super simple :)

Base Coat:  unknown, had my nails done at the salon
Base Color:  OPI INK
Glitter:  Finger Paints Art You Wondering?
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

P.S. This glitter is awesome, I am betting it's a one coater, I only had to use the sponge once and it was so opaque at the tip.  Can't wait to use it again.  I got it in Red and Blue :)

Say Hello to the other Ladies in the group:

Teal Tuesday: Splatter

It's Tuesday again, time for another challenge.  This week is splatter.  I know, another technique I have never tried.  Still haven't actually.  I waited too long to do this mani and just barely looked up how to's on you tube this morning.  I decided that it was going to take too long and be quit messy.  I have lots of house chores I need to get done today.  So I pulled out my Image Plates and got to hunting.  I have 4 that have some sort of splatter design in them, YES!!  I can stamp my way through this one.  Kind of cheating I guess.  But hey, at least I didn't dismiss this one all together, right?  Besides, I had received some awesome nail mail yesterday and had already painted my nails last night.  I didn't want to take a chance on messing that up.  Here is what I ended up with

Base Coat:  Seche Retain
Base Color:  OPI DS Sapphire
Base Splatter:  Kleancolors Metallic Aqua
Main Splatter:  Konad Special Black
Stamping Plates:  Bundle Monster BM 202 and Cheeky B38
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

ASBMF #1: Spring Pastels

I decided to join in on another challenge.  This is a Spring Challenge called April Showers Bring May Flowers, with 14 different themes.  The first theme is Spring Pastels.  I don't own a lot of pastels, they don't really look good on me.  But I do have China Glaze For Audrey, it's the first China Glaze I ever bought.  Also the one that led me to the discovery that I can't wear pastels.  Go figure.  But, I keep it around just in case.  So today is a day I needed it.  I know this is supposed to be a Spring Pastel, but let's face it.  I am not going to go out and buy a bunch of colors for one Mani Challenge.  So I went with what I had.  Pretty much nothing hahahaha.  Since I have just this one color, I decided to do some pretty flowery stamping.  Look springy enough?  It's does in my book!

Base Coat:  Seche Retain
Base Color:  CG For Audrey
White Stamping Color:  Konad Special White
Black Stamping Color:  Konad Special Black
Stamping Plate:  Flirt B65
Top Coat:  Seche Vite
